ABOUT
The starting point in my work is contemporary media representations expressed through the moving image or photograph. I use content and images that I find in the media of popular culture-movies, magazines, advertisements, or from the Internet and numerous social networks. Photographs, or frozen frames of motion pictures, serve to me as an inspiration to present my point of view in the form of drawings .
I have chosen the wall drawing as a form of public expression so I could communicate with people about all the sub-texts that are intertwined with contemporary media representations. Wall drawing, mural, as well as graffiti, stencils and wall messages are most often motivated by the artists need to be socially engaged and to point out some of his or the represented groups attitudes, or they are complicated narratives expressing various social changes, movements, social injustices or collective ideas.
My project involves large-scale drawings in public spaces or galleries in order to achieve greater communication with the public and visitors. I want to explore through a psychologically - cultural prism, how it is possible to re - contextualize one reading of photography and film, or a recognizable genre and offer a different language and syntax through remake. Is it possible to create a new reading which would raise questions or actualize new content, by the use of citation and intertextuality of the existing images? So the problem of re-make as a contemporary phenomenon linking media and creation of something new based on existing, realized, sets a reference into a new media and conceptual framework. Remake as a striking modification of its initial reference problematises occurrences and phenomena substantially different and significantly distant from its ideologically-presentational source.
Project implies performance of the drawing with charcoal on a wall of a gallery or public space. Choice of template, as well as the composition, is dependent on the space I am reacting in. The size of my project is a variable meaning it depends on the size of the space in which it is applied or the size of the area that I want to cover.
